Getting started
What do I need to use Junqo?
You'll need Junqo hardware, a compatible physical SIM and the Junqo app on the device you want to connect. Final platform and compatibility requirements will be published before launch.
How will I connect my device?
The intended experience is simple: insert your SIM into Junqo, power it on, open the Junqo app and connect your supported device wirelessly.
Does Junqo work with any SIM?
Junqo is being designed around standard physical SIMs. Final SIM format, carrier and country compatibility will be confirmed through testing.
Do I need an internet connection?
Junqo's cellular functions are designed to use the cellular network provided by your SIM. Internet access may still be required for app downloads, updates and certain online services.
Calls, SMS & USSD
Will people see my real number?
The goal is for calls and SMS to use the number on your SIM, just as they do when the SIM is in a phone. Final carrier compatibility will be confirmed during testing.
Can I receive calls on multiple devices?
Multi-device calling is part of the Junqo experience we're developing. Exactly how calls are presented and switched between devices will depend on the final app and hardware.
Are my messages stored on Junqo servers?
Junqo is being designed around privacy and data minimisation. We do not want your call or message content passing through our servers unnecessarily. The final data architecture and privacy policy will reflect the released product.
Will Junqo support group SMS?
SMS capabilities are still being developed and tested. Supported messaging features will be published before launch.
Range & connection
How far can I be from Junqo?
Wireless range depends on the connection technology, environment, walls and interference. We will publish tested range figures before launch.
What happens if I go out of range?
The connected device will no longer be able to communicate with Junqo while outside the supported range. Exact behaviour for calls, SMS and reconnection will be documented after testing.
Will Junqo reconnect automatically?
Automatic reconnection is part of the experience we're designing. Final behaviour will be confirmed before release.
Hardware & battery
How long will the battery last?
Battery life is still being tested. We will publish real-world figures once the hardware is stable.
Does Junqo need to stay powered on?
Yes. The Junqo hardware needs to be powered and connected for devices to use its cellular connection.
Can the firmware be updated?
Secure firmware updates are part of the product architecture we're working toward. Update behaviour will be documented before launch.
Account & privacy
Will I need a Junqo account?
The current product direction is to minimise unnecessary account requirements. Final account and device-management requirements will be published before launch.
What data will Junqo collect?
We're designing Junqo around data minimisation. Sensitive communications should stay local wherever the product can support that architecture. The final Privacy Policy will explain exactly what is and is not collected.
What happens if I lose my Junqo device?
Device loss is a security consideration we're actively designing for. Before launch, we'll publish the steps for unpairing, securing and resetting a lost device.
